Powder Coating Systems

Powder Coating Systems

Powder coating is used in many industrial processes, including the manufacturing of composites, energy (production/storage), semiconductors, solar, medical, and for the production of emerging nanomaterials. It often requires a thin layer of conforming coating (e.g. Si, C, oxides, metal) on the particle surface. Chemical Vapor Deposition is an ideal way to apply a complete coating on particles with good uniformity and low cost. Particle size can vary from sub-micron to hundreds micron, and the coating thickness can be a few nanometers to tens of microns.

In order to achieve uniform coating on the particle surface, the particles need to be agitated during coating so the precursors can reach all of the particle’s surface and form a coating. CVD Equipment Corporation provides two different process technology, one is a Fluidized Bed CVD (FBCVD) with a vertical reaction chamber and the other is a Rotating barrel CVD with a horizontal reaction chamber. Both processes can coat particles from a few grams to a hundred-kilograms for various applications, including Electric Vehicle battery R&D and manufacturing.

The PowderCoat 1104™ is a turnkey Chemical Vapor Deposition and Infiltration System designed to process powder materials for high technology applications. The multi-reactor design allows for parallel or sequential processing of up to four batches per System. Our rapid cooldown features result in high throughput processing for volume manufacturing. We supply the hazardous gas storage and delivery, process reactor, and exhaust treatment subsystems as a complete integrated solution. Each component of the System is taken from our expansive library of process equipment configurations.

At its heart, the PowderCoat 1104™ is a multi-reactor, hot wall, low pressure chemical vapor deposition system. I will provide a detailed description of all the features of the System. The size of each process chamber is chosen to afford the flexibility to alter the internal fixturing for future differentiation.

powered by CVDWinPrC

Operated through our CVDWinPrC™ process control software, the systems automatically log data and graphically show time-dependent values of user-selected parameters. CVDWinPrC™ also allows users to load preprogrammed recipes, modify, check and create new recipes, and view realtime or saved process data.

Safety Protocols

The systems have application configured safety protocols embedded into relay logic, PLC, and CVDWinPrC™ software.
