Systems Test Engineer

Position is primarily responsible for system testing and troubleshooting of custom semiconductor, nanotechnology, and industrial process equipment.  Must be familiar with automated process control equipment, operation, and maintenance. Knowledge of various semiconductor industry processes such as resistance furnaces, infrared heating, RF induction heating, RF plasma generation, mass flow controllers, high purity reactive gas handling, pressure transducers, vacuum pumps, etc. is a plus.

The individual should be self-motivating and able to work in a fast-paced setting. The individual will work closely with sales, engineering, project managers, and manufacturing to create and execute a test plan that will meet the product specification objectives.

Education & Experience:

  • Excellent understanding of industrial process equipment assembly and operation
  • Good knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and applications
  • Good understanding of low pressure vacuum systems and pneumatic systems
  • Good understanding and functional use of the operation of automated control systems including PLC hardware, ladder logic programming, and PLC software environments
  • Experience with analog/digital IC circuitry
  • Proven troubleshooting abilities
  • Knowledge and use of test equipment including oscilloscopes and gas system leak testers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiar with Windows OS
  • Excellent computer (Microsoft Office Suite) and analytical skills
  • BSEE, BSME, or similar degree, plus suitable experience in industrial process systems.
  • Candidate with exceptional experience may be exempt from degree requirements

Duties & Skills Required:

  • Individual is responsible for concurrent testing of industrial process systems and subsystems to product specifications
  • Create test plans, including check lists, QA acceptance criteria, and safety matrixes to meet product manufacturing specifications
  • Individual is responsible for performing the final factory acceptance test with the customer that may require off-hour work to support this activity
  • Individual will be required for field service when needed; including final customer site acceptance test activities that may require occasional travel to customer locations worldwide to support this activity
  • Troubleshoots faulty components and systems to correct problems
  • Provides in-house and field technical support directly to customers
  • Provide technical support to the internal applications lab
  • Document, track, and escalate quality issues as appropriate through accurate, clear, and concise reports
