Gas Systems Design Engineer
Position is primarily responsible for design and development of gas and vacuum systems for custom semiconductor, nanotechnology and industrial process equipment. Position is based at CVD’s headquarters in Central Islip, NY.
Gas systems design is accomplished by development of conceptual gas schematics based upon customer requirements, performing engineering analysis of system operation to determine proper components and chemical compatibility, layout of gas panel, piping and vacuum system.
Education & Experience:
- BSCE, BSME or similar degree, plus suitable experience in Semiconductor, Nanotechnology or comparable industry segment. Candidate with exceptional experience may be exempt from degree requirements.
- Must have experience with various semiconductor industry equipment technologies such as mass flow controllers; high purity valves, components and piping; hazardous gas and liquid handling and storage; pressure transducers; high vacuum pumps and measurement, etc. Must be familiar with automated gas and vacuum system operation and process control. Must be familiar with chemical and physical properties of hazardous process materials, appropriate safety codes and chemical safety practices
- Must have experience with AutoCAD® schematic design, and Inventor® solid modeling. Experience with gas and vacuum design software preferred. Must be proficient with Windows® OS, the Microsoft Office® suite, Adobe® Acrobat, and ERP software.
- Experience with various chemical vapor deposition processes (e.g. LPCVD, MOCVD, PECVD) is highly desirable. Knowledge in equipment process applications and process recipe development is preferred.
Duties & Skills Required:
Duties include CAD schematic design, solid modeling of parts and piping systems, detailing system BOMs, procurement of system components and participation in extensive design review and approval processes. Duties require excellent understanding of semiconductor, nanotechnology and industrial process equipment operation and process knowledge.
