Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
Position is primarily responsible for product design and development of custom capital Semiconductor,
Nanotechnology and Industrial Process Equipment. Duties to include conceptual design and
solid-modeling of complete equipment systems; engineering calculations of strength, force,
thermal transfer; periodic design reviews; selection of vendors and components; BOMs and
configuration management; cost and schedule control; generation of detail drawings
and manufacturing assistance. Position requires occasional travel, and is based at CVD's
headquarters in Ronkonkoma, NY.
Position requires in-depth understanding of process equipment design, fabrication and assembly
practices; automated system operation and process knowledge; use of various CNC machine equipment
and hand tools; test and measurement equipment; and knowledge of process control software usage.
Successful candidate will demonstrate similar practical knowledge and experience in ongoing
design of complex processing equipment, with a strong preference for prior experience in the
Semiconductor or Nanotechnology industries.
Qualifications
BSME or similar degree, MS preferred, plus suitable experience in Semiconductor, Nanotechnology
or comparable industry segment. Candidate with exceptional experience may be exempt from degree
requirements.
Must have experience with vacuum chamber design, sheet metal design, frame and panel assembly
design, motion mechanisms. Must have experience with various semiconductor industry processes
such as resistance furnaces, infrared heating, RF induction heating, RF plasma generation,
high purity reactive gas handling, pressure transducers, high vacuum pumps and measurement,
transport mechanisms and wafer handling systems, etc. Must be familiar with automated
process control equipment design, manufacturing and operation. Experience with rigging
and transport of large process equipment is desirable.
Must have experience with 3D Solid Modeling CAD software. Experience with AutoDesk Inventor 10
or 11 is preferred. Must be proficient with Windows OS and common office applications,
including MRP software.
Experience with CNC Machining, CNC Sheetmetal workflow and CAM programming is highly desirable.
US citizen preferred.
Authorization to work in US without sponsorship required.
