Dr. Yi Tu Presents Before the IEEE, Los Angeles Chapter

Santa Barbara, CA, July 26, 2004 – First Nano today announced that Dr. Yi Tu has been selected as a guest speaker to present before The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Los Angeles Chapter section meeting, on September 13, 2004 at First Nano corporate headquarters. The Los Angeles chapter includes the Central Coast, Buena Ventura and University of California, Santa Barbara section IEEE members.

Dr. Tu’s lecture entitled “Chemical Vapor Deposition Synthesis Of Carbon Nanotubes” will provide an introduction to carbon nanotube structure, physical properties and applications along with the most recent advancements in synthesis using thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method with the EasyTubeÔ System.

Tu received a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from Boston College under the supervision of Professor Zhifeng Ren (1998-2003), studying nanomaterials synthesis and applications. Additionally, Tu has extensive experience in growth of random and aligned carbon nanotubes using chemical vapor deposition method. He performed intensive study on field emission properties of carbon nanotubes and improved the performance and stability of carbon nanotube field emitter by controlling the site density and modifying the surface of carbon nanotube. Tu also developed a new type of carbon nanotube based nanoelectrode arrays-electrochemical sensor that can be used as a biosensor for glucose and other bio-molecular detection.

Currently, Dr. Tu concentrates on nanomaterials research, product development, and collaborates with First Nano’s customers to facilitate their nanotechnology research.

About First Nano
